Session X2: Vectors

In this session, you will explore another of Java's standard classes. The vector class, java.util.Vector provides an alternative to arrays for creating collections. The goals of this laboratory are to:

• consider some limitations of arrays;
• motivate dynamic data structures;
• introduce the java.util.Vector class;
• compare arrays and vectors;
• show how to determine the types of objects with instanceof
• explore explicit typing of objects, and
• visit some object equivalents of Java's primitive types.
