Session A3: Analyzing Algorithms

In this laboratory session, you will analyze the running time of algorithms in using two strategies for timing algorithms: wall clock timing and instruction counting. The purposes of this laboratory session are to

• introduce algorithm measurement;
• describe Java's built-in mechanism for timing programs;
• consider a variety of algorithms in more depth; and
• prepare you for more in-depth analysis of algorithms.

Prerequisite skills:

• Knowledge of recursion and recursive algorithms
