This is a log of Terian's efforts in completing the project, whatever it may be. 4/11/10 7:00-7:40: Reviewed present state of code, discussed overall architecture, possible changes to existing code, explained difficult concepts to one another. Much use of whiteboard. 7:40-7:50: Looked at preexisting predicate code, compared to group's code 7:50: Began implementing predicate classes into group's life code, starting with adjusting Creature and Species classes 8:10: Discussed changes to design of Rule class 8:40: Have realized that the paper and whiteboard versions of project UML diagrams are incompatible, and some compromise between the two must be made before inclusion of other group's code is possible. Other pair of our group is also having much difficulty in implementing multidimensional arrays with python. 8:45-9:00: Began working as an entire group on problem of multidimensional arrays for localworld.py 4/12/10 5:30: Reviewed present state of code. Jordan explains things. 5:50: Now actually understanding concept of arrays, started working on implementing them without dictionaries, which I felt were unnecessary 6:25: Finished working on QuantityPredicate for now, started working on LogicPredicate. 6:45: Finished working on Predicates for now. Note: need to rework them, in particular the toString method and comments (i.e. lack thereof) 4/14/10: 7:00-7:15: Discussed objectives for today with Jordan (rule, instructions, apparently need to have state represented, conflict resolution policy) 7:15-7:30: Selected rule class to work on, started working on it. #note: to do; decide on a standard for toString/fromString methods, implement them. 7:30: Wanted to work on instructions, but considered that maybe since instructions is only really two parameters with no methods it might better be represented as a tuple? will discuss when rest of group shows up. 7:35: Instead thought about relationship between species/creature/state. updated svn. 7:40: Made corrections to species, creature classes 7:45-8:00: Talked about enumerated types with Jordan, implemented something, didn't like it, decided to wait for rest of group to finalize 8:00: Began thinking about, working on ConflictResolutionPolicy #note: Have not been using our nice standardized header, should go back and do that at some point to all classes 8:05: Realized I have not been importing things into new classes, went back and did that 8:15-8:30: Worked on joining species, rule classes 8:30-8:40: Discussed some issues with newly arrived team members, however conflictresolutionpolicy discussion is also taking place, so will wait for Jordan to return from that 8:40-8:50 Talked with group. Other people began working on a TUI. Discussed instructions class, decided it should exist, though with location rather than direction 8:50-9:20: Attempted to integrate localworld with creature, species 9:20-9:30: After breaking a number of things while working on my own, decided to work in pair with Jordan, looking at localworld 9:30-9:40: Worked on step method of localworld 9:40-9:45: Wrote preliminary conflictresolutionpolicy 9:45-10:00: Tested various interactions between localworld and other classes 4/18/10 6:00-6:15: Discussed networking concepts as they pertain to the project 6:15: Decided to write use cases/scenarios 6:15-7:00: Wrote use cases for client (player/nonplayer) vs server situations 7:00-7:15: Decided on the best next course of action 7:15-7:45: Worked on implementing chat client in an effort to learn more about networking/python 7:45-8:30: Consulted documentation on sockets, threading, pickling (group disperses...) 8:30: Decided threading is too complicated a concept for me to attempt to implement on my own at the moment 8:30-8:40: Added chat code to svn, documented, moved log to appropriate log folder. 8:40-9:00: Debugged, modified chat code 4/19/10 8:00-8:15: Reviewed work from yesterday 8:15-8:30: Talked about threading vs select in chat client 8:30-8:45: Talked about my vs ravi's chat client code, decided to use his approach (select is implemented) 8:45-9:15: Wrote some diagrams explaining eventual functionality of chat 9:15-9:30: Worked in a group on chat, debugging, etc. 9:30-10:00: Decided to postpone work on chat until questions can be answered in class; wrote such questions. 10:00-10:10: Looked at role of network in UML diagram 10:10-11:00: Attempted to make minor changes to chat client, instead attempted to figure out problem with client crashes upon quit and was unsuccessful. Possibly know more about sockets now. 4/20/10 6:00-6:15: Discussed today's class discussion 6:15-6:30: Wrote UMLish diagrams 6:30-7:00: Discussed architecture for client, server classes 7:00-7:30: Started working on pickle-fying client and server 7:30-8:00: Hit an impasse, debugged extensively 8:00-8:15: Found inelegant solution, attempted to find better one, did not 8:15-8:25: Reorganized network folder 8:25-9:50: Added documentation/headers 9:50-10:00: Reviewed other group members' work 4/25/10 7:00-7:15: Discussed interactions between other components of project 7:15-7:40: Explained past work to new group member (singular) 7:40-8:20: Debugged server/client 8:20-8:40: Discussed eventual architecture for communicating with GUI/model 8:40-9:00: Looked at GUI, model code to determine if there were any expectations for the network. 4/27/10 9:00-9:15: Looked at wiki, new interfaces 9:15-9:30: Read about threading.timer 9:30-10:00: Read new network code 10:00-11:00: Worked on implementing netsetup in worldserver 11:00-11:30: Consulted with group members 11:30-12:30: Continued work on netsetup, init in worldserver, acceptclients 4/28/10 8:00-8:30: Resolved, discussed conflicts in svn 8:30-9:00: Talked with group about design 9:00-9:30: Looked through mass of code for minor errors 9:30-9:40: Talked with members of other groups 9:40-10:00: pair programmed 10:00-11:00: worked on being able to test using dummy world 11:00-11:30: Discussed, planned on packaging and resulting tasks 5/02/10 6:00-6:45: Looked at current GUI code, tested manually, etc. 6:45-7:00: Having found some bugs, attempted to fix them 7:00-8:00: Changed species selection to radiobutton-style/learned Tkinter 8:00-8:15: Archived old style of species selection in case anyone wanted it 8:15-8:45: Further investigated current GUI functionality 8:45-9:00: Changed network selection to radiobutton-style 5/03/10 7:00-7:15: Reviewed other group members' additions, current functionality 7:15-7:30: Continued working on boardsetup. 7:30-7:45: Discussed tasks with group 7:45-10:15: Worked on boardscreen, implementing localworld and step buttons 5/05/10 7:15-7:30: Reviewed changes 7:30-8:30: Worked on adding scrollbars 8:30-9:00: Worked with other group members 9:00-9:30: Edited species buttons in boardscreen 9:30-10:00: Tried to add scrollbar to species buttons, apparently impossible/not worth working on 10:00-10:15: Looked through code, fixed various errors 5/09/10 7:00-7:15: Reviewed previous work 7:15-7:30: Decided on a display 7:30-8:00: Worked on species setup 8:00-8:30: Added, worked on species database display 8:30-10:00: Worked on creating and saving species 5/11/10 7:30-8:00: Worked on broken stuff 8:00-10:30: Continued working on species creation, rule editting 5/12/10 7:30-11:00: Working under Jordan's profile, added various features to rule editor. 11:00-12:30: Working under own profile, continued the above
