Notes and News

  • Evening tutoring will be available 3-5 p.m. Sundays and 8-10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays in the tutoring channel on the CS team.
  • Individual tutors are also available, but we prefer that you try the evening tutors first.
  • I’d love to hear questions from more of you. (Volunteering answers also works.)
  • I don’t tend to read the chat during class, so please don’t put questions for me there. Raise your hand and ask!
    • Also, feel free to use the chat for (clean and respectful) community building.
    • It’s okay, while there may be loud and frequent members of the chat, all are welcome. And they’re Grinnellians; they should be nice people.
  • When we have a “normal” semester, I have some “pause for breath” days in the schedule to permit days like yesterday. I find it useful to talk some things through as a class.
    • We model problem-solving and thinking strategies.
    • We learn ideas from others.
    • We discover that we’re not alone in being confused.
    • I don’t feel bad about adding such a day; I hope you found it useful.
  • There seem to have been some unexpected changes to the csc151 library. They’ve affected tomorrow’s reading. I should have them cleaned up in the next few hours.
  • If you don’t feel like you got enough guidance to turn your “M” on mini-project 1 into an “E”, let me know. (Scheduling a meeting would be best, but I’m also happy to send more feedback via chat or mail.)
  • It looks like at least one of you asked for help from the evening tutor last night and didn’t get it. You have a free one-day extension. Let me know your question. (I’m going to discuss how to handle those situations in the future.)
  • Just in case you weren’t sure, all of the code we wrote for yesterday’s lab should be in the eboard.

Lab

Don’t forget to introduce yourselves.

I’ll see you in the lab room.

And look, we’ll actually have time today!

At least that’s my hope.
