Project Presentation

Each project group will be expected to give a twenty-five minute presentation reporting on their project. It is more-or-less up to you what you choose to include in the presentation, although I would expect to see all of the following:

• a demonstration of your project that illustrates key features;
• a discussion of external technical issues that you faced and needed to learn more about;
• a simple overview of your program structure (key classes and how they interrelate); and
• an indication of future directions you might follow if given sufficient time.

In preparing your presentation, think about what you'd like to hear if you were in the audience.

Expectations

I expect solid, polished, presentations. In particular, it should not appear as if this is the first time you've given yoru presentation. You should not need to read your presentation from a sheet of paper and each member of the group should clearly contribute to the presentation. I also expect a presentation that involves more than narrative: you should also make appropriate use of computer displays (overhead and student), whiteboards, and web pages.

Your presentation will be evaluated by at least two faculty members from the department, so remember that you're not presenting to just your colleagues and me.

Technical Issues

As suggested above, I'd like to see a discussion of some technical topic that you needed to learn in order to complete your project. The particular topic depends upon the actual group. For example, the NiceMail project might discuss SMTP, the BlitzMail project might discuss the BlitzMail or DND protocol, the Steganography project might discuss the GIF file format, the Whiteboard project might discuss client-server systems and polling, and the Fantasy Football project might discuss parsing of HTML pages.
